Carbacid Investments half year profit rises 41% 15 Mar 10 The gas company continued its profitability trend posting a 41% growth in pre-tax profits from Ksh153 mn (US$2.0 mn) to Ksh216 mn (US$2.8 mn) for the six months ended 31st January 2010. The performance was impressive as it was top-line growth that trickled down resulting in a higher profit margin, which rose 11.4% from 55.2% to 66.6%. The company's revenues grew 17% from Ksh277 mn (US$3.6 mn) to Ksh324 mn (US$4.2 mn) during the period while operating profits grew % from Ksh169 mn (US$2.2 mn) to Ksh205 mn (US$2.7 mn).
The company's EPS rose 55% from Ksh2.96 to Ksh4.58 and the company announced an interim dividend of Kshs2.00. The dividend will be paid to shareholders on or about 21st April 2010 and will be paid to shareholders on the register at the close of business on 29th March 2010. As at the 12th March, 2010, the company had a market value of Ksh3.9 bn (US$50.3 mn), a trailing PE ratio of 15.1x, trailing PEG ratio of 0.3x and a trailing PBV of 3.2x.
